Dear Pat and Elizabeth,

Greetings and a happy holiday season to all of you! I hope you are all feeling well and everything is going fine with you these days in spite of the horrific financial downturn. Lily, I imagine this must be a truly hard time for any business owner. You of all people deserve to be financially comfortable after all you have done so much for others. Several of our FOTSI donors have already told me they can't continue sponsorships, at least for a time.

I've just received Christmas Cards from the Tibetan Settlement from each of your five sponsored Tibetans, including photos. The cards are from Tsering Choephel (81), living in the Home for the Elderly, Tenzin Lhakey (77), who lives with her daughter, Tenzin Norzin, (15), Penpa Dolma (15), Kelsang Dorje (32), who is somewhat crippled (not too badly) and who works with his sewing machine and also helps his mother and grandparents who are getting very old. I'm emailing this letter and the photos to Lily, and mailing the actual Christmas cards and photos and a hard-copy of this letter to Pat.

Thank you all for your continuing and extremely kind help for the Tibetans. Please let me know if for any reason you cannot send the funds. It would be especially good if you could send these by December 15, but anytime in December would be okay.

I am leaving Boulder to go to the Tibetan camp on January 26, 2009 (soon!) and will return to Boulder March 8, 2009. I'm hoping to send the packets off for the sponsored people by the first week of January, 2009. I'm a bit apprehensive, because, besides the violence in Mumbai, India, there has been some unprecedented unrest, apparently stirred up by some rabble-rousers near Mundgod, in what has been a very peaceful region for 50 years.
